Prince St.
02:58
|
|||
you were waiting on my table
at some prince street cafe
where i'd go to hear some motown
and fake the good old days
i was disappointed, you wouldn't leave
yours a name without retrieve
you were smiling, i didn't care
but it wasn't much to stare at
when the transport offered a third lapse
condescendingly collapse
neighborhood bypassed
and some mess in between
you know exactly how i mean
brushing bedroom smoke unseen
off some single track regime
all repressive and depressive from fifteen
you were staying at your sister's
new apartment out west
between chelsea and the village
and a place you would like best
i was hesitating, you weren't pleased
back unhinged against the screen
we were working quickly, a quiet upset
workday built along your neck
it's a quarantine process
strikes elaborate nonsense
we glance with silence
at some mess in between
you know exactly how i mean
brushing bedroom smoke unseen
off some single track regime
all repressive and depressive from fifteen

Jackie-O Pose
02:49
|
|||
i feel safe riding in a fast car
speeding past the sparkle of the asphalt
maybe its because i can finally think clearly
maybe i just don't know it well enough yet
and i'm set
i'm set
voice shakes when you speak in public
juicy when you speak in spanish
but you're not my exotic and i'm not your erotic
and i'm sure that i'm never gonna see you again
not even friends
when you're not even friends
i wish i could take a photo of you
asleep in your car on the first warm day
when it gets like this i have to let it slip
cause with mine its better than slipping away

Riot Queue
03:16
|
|||
when the riot on the beach let out
no one told you when to scream
it was just like they said in the magazine
there was nowhere to move, nowhere to be
and being nowhere is so much easier
than to actually know what it is that you mean
so get out (calling all cars come in ten-four now)
get out of here
we can change our audience now
shut them down with that pacifying sound
get out (calling all cars better go and hit the floor now)
get out of here
we can change this viewer now
shut them down with another fake rebellion sound
they threw their money down at you
from their seats way up in the sky
i'm talking kevlar greenback olive branches
swallow every single bullet as its buzzing on by
you know pretty soon i had to leave the place
can't stand that kind of tv rights bidding war
yeah i might be a bit of a cynic
but you don't even know what it is that you're fighting for
so get out (calling all cars come in ten-four now)
get out of here
we can change our audience now
shut them down with that pacifying sound
get out (calling all cars better go and hit the floor now)
get out of here
we can change this viewer now
shut them down with another fake rebellion sound

Autumn, Come On
03:32
|
|||
friends move to the midwest
to siberia plan trips to texas and carolina
build mansions across from my parents house
work and grumble pour hot coffee
burn their hands ruin their new shoes
fold t-shirts and jeans clean pharmacies
walk dogs work projects take photos send to me that say
autumn come on, don't you take any longer now
cause this summer's just been dragging me around
stuck to a couch with bad poetry
failed music none of this is new to me
but i'll be basking in the mooonlight til the snow comes down
shirtless in this dark corridor
my family's vacant apartment trashed
with harmonica trickles transversely peeling hall paper back
sneaking instruments that i can't place
hang and wane on ginger airwaves
but i don't know any better when it always gets worse
so just wake me when they learn to put the days in reverse, i said...
autumn come on, don't you take any longer now
cause this summer's just been dragging me around
stuck to a couch with bad poetry
failed music none of this is new to me
but i'll be basking in the mooonlight til the snow comes down
phone's heavy crumbling brick against my soggy hair and temple
struggle to hear what you said
on the other line shaking water furiously out of my ear
i'm pretty sure it was...
autumn come on, don't you take any longer now
cause this summer's just been dragging me around
stuck to a couch with bad poetry
failed music none of this is new to me
but i'll be basking in the mooonlight til the snow comes down
